To give back to the legal community by coaching and mentoring others outside our firm.
Every year, each of our lawyers takes on two law students or young lawyers from the community to coach for the next year. The relationships are confidential, which allows us to reach students and lawyers who might not want others to know they have a coach.
Throughout the course of the year, each coach meets regularly with their students or lawyers in person and by phone. The coaching depends on individual needs, but common areas include:
- What it takes to succeed in law practice
- What makes a good lawyer, what doesn’t
- What they don’t teach you in law school or at your job
- Finding a job, the right job
- Business development
- Time management
- Team management
- Most common mistakes of young lawyers
- Practical skills development (depositions, experts, writing, oral arguments, etc.)
- Career path planning
- Balancing life, family, and health with a robust law practice (it actually can be done)
